Yesterday evening we had this really successful beer garden party. We had more people coming than expected and everyone had a great time! Some of us were slightly tired this morning but after some awesome hotel breakfast together we were all fit for fight again :)

The Paradox tour continues!

This week we’re at Gamescom in Germany showing War of the Roses, A Game of Dwarves, Impire and our two new announcements; Europa Universalis IV and Cities in Motion II. All presentations are held at the Hyatt Regency hotel and it seems like most of our guests so far are as excited as we are for our upcoming games!

Paradox Interactive Releases Tour Highlight Reel, Nurses Hangover

Whirlwind “Six Games and Rock ‘n’ Roll” Tour Encapsulated in Killer Videos

NEW YORK — August 1, 2012 — Paradox Interactive could not be reached for comment this morning, following the conclusion of their epic “Six Devs and Rock ‘n’ Roll” game tour. Presumed to be sprawled on the floor nursing a terrible hangover, the famed publisher refused to say anything to press other than a muttered request for aspirin, but several of Paradox’s roadies were on hand to deliver a post-show wrap-up report. That report is available now in the form of a series of rocking game videos from the event, presenting fans who were unable to attend with the opportunity to check out everything they missed.

Robin Flodin left the army with a secret mission. His first action to find a brother in arms to make a glorious game of the short people but no luck. Failing to kill all other media with the indie success Dwarfs!?,( what people was happy!?) Robin decided he needed to think bigger. He gathered the most fanatic and crazy game developers he could find.

So in the dark mists and fire of mount doom Zeal was born. One last time Robin looked at his brother in arm teddy before turning his back on the so safe 2d tiles. He had decided 3D was the future or at least that is what the cinema said. (little did he know that was another form of 3d completely) but his faith did not vaguer.

He was going to defeat the purpose of all other media. So he found audience with Sweden’s most powerful wizard as for a quest of this proportion one needs gold! Paradox decided that the young warlords mission was a pure one as he decided to sponsor the journey and use his marketing magic to help as the fellowship juryned out on a quest of epic proportions! The rest will soon be history!

Will win because of destiny, what else? That is why all heroes win is it not?

Paradox takes over Brick & Mortar Music Hall in San Francisco

Today is setup day for our San Francisco press event. Lots of computers, lots of cables, lots of tech issues so far but we are slowly getting there. We were up until 3am last night installing all games on our 20+ computers. Luckily we had the most delicious pizza, beers and each other’s company all night so we survived. Up early this morning, loading truck with computers and packing them up as I write this. Go go go!

War of the Roses US Tournament – Who will be playing?

As part of our tour we are arranging a War of the Roses tournament with lots of great peeps participating. We are going to have four teams competing against each other and the winning team will get to pick out a charity organization that we are donating $5000 dollars to.

As a countdown to the tournament set on Friday 27^th we will reveal one team each day up until the event starting tomorrow.

“Essentially, the game boils down to a deep and involved crafting system that manages to be reminiscent of Minecraft, Wurm Online, and EVE Online all at the same time. The game is a true sandbox in that everything outside of the lone safe haven of Boston is player-created. This also means that everything outside of Boston is fair game to be player-destroyed. Salem has already made headlines by including a fairly uncompromising take on permadeath in its core gameplay, but the MMO’s complexity bleeds into that seemingly straightforward mechanic as well.”

We finally made it to San Francisco and our days have been filled with squonks, hide-behinds, permadeath, phlegm and pilgrims. It’s been great to meet several editors over the past couple of days and introduce them to the developers vision of Salem: The Crafting MMO. Since we stole 50% of the dev team for this tour, it’s now time for Bjorn to start wrapping things up and head back to Sweden. But Paradox on Tour continues and this time we turn our attention to War of the Roses.

First Ever US Tournament for War of the Roses Taking Place July 27

Broadcasters, Developers and Producers Battle it Out in Live Stream Event

As part of its Six Games and Rock ‘n’ Roll tour, Paradox Interactive will host a tournament of champions for upcoming medieval multiplayer game War of the Roses. Pitting game industry veterans against each other in the first ever US tournament for the ambitious and gritty third-person action title, the live stream event will take place on July 27 from 4pm-8pm PST and can be viewed at www.twitchtv.com/paradoxinteractive

Billed as one of the most brutal tournaments to take place this year, the entire competition will be broadcast online via TwitchTV and will play host to a variety of specially invited guests that will get the chance to play against (read: stab) each other while the whole world is watching.

Totaling 20 competitors in all, these exclusively invited individuals include broadcasters SeaNanners , TotalBiscuit , Angry Joe , and many more, as well as developers from Paradox Interactive and a team of miscreants from TwitchTV. Commentary will be provided by War of the Roses producer Gordon Van Dyke and gaming veteran Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez .

Salem: The Crafting MMO - first game on Tour!

Salem Away video making its worldwide debut here in the on Tour blog

Paradox Interactive is on the road for a few weeks and the first part of our tour will be focused on Salem: The Crafting MMO. Stop 1: New York City. After spending a considerable amount of time explaining to the customs officers that game development is indeed a real job as is game journalism we were finally admitted into the US and ready for adventure.

Salems game designer Björn Johannessen didn’t waste any time getting stuck into game presentations for some of the larger MMO sites in the area. Braving jet lag and 90+ degrees (while being dressed for a Swedish summer which is considerably cooler) he met with Ten Ton Hammer and later ZAM at the Paradox Interactive NY office to show them just how Salem: The Crafting MMO has progressed and what the future has in store. We’ll make sure to post their impressions once they go up!

We’ve also created a new trailer for this tour which is making its worldwide debut here in the blog.

Next stop: Cleveland, Ohio where we’ll meet with the Editor in Chief of MMORPG. Wish us luck!
